Steve Jobs' favorite New Balance 992 come back in two new colour ways

New Balance unveils two new versions of the long-time favorite sneakers inspired by Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs' favorite New Balance 992 come back in two new colour ways New Balance unveils two new versions of the long-time favorite sneakers inspired by Steve Jobs

It's no secret that Steve Jobs had a thing for New Balance. Despite his look always low-key, a little chill, almost effortless, the co-founder of Apple Inc. has become a style icon: his uniform of a black turtleneck, worn-out jeans and a pair of grey New Balance 992 turned him into a symbol of minimalism as well as one of his high-tech design products (his look became so iconic that it was straight repeated by Michael Fassbender in the biopic Steve Jobs by Danny Boyle).

Always been a lover of the New Balance 99X, rumour has it that Jobs himself wrote to New Balance chairman Jim Davis to ask him for a sneaker that was more "sporty and trendy", including a sketch of the silhouette he would have liked to wear. How one can refuse a design by Steve Jobs? That's how the New Balance 992 was born. They were introduced in 2006 as a part of the celebration for the 100th anniversary of the brand, and later became one of the most requested of sneakers in the world.

Almost 15 years after this revolutionary release, New Balance re-presents the silhouette in two new colourways, including the grey version that we've seen at Steve Jobs' feet. For the release, an editorial by german sneaker shop 43einhalb pays homage to Jobs' style and showcases the two versions of the sneaker (grey and tan) alongside with the items that made Jobs' style so iconic: the turtleneck, the glasses, his Levi's 501 - even a VHS of a german version of Star Wars (Krieg der Sterne).

For now there are no news about the drop on the European market, but the first release is set in Singapore for April, 7th for $175, so we can assume that it's going to happen soon. Keep following nss magazine and the official site of New Balance for any updates.
