Milan Fashion Week FW20 Moodboard

What happens if the future through viruses, climate crisis and social alienation is increasingly unpredictable? We find refuge in other possible worlds, those told by books and cinema. At least that's what many of the designers of Milano Fashion Week FW20 have done. Max Mara revisited Riders to the Sea by John Millington Synge and Missoni Flatland by Edwin F. Abbott. Moschino returned to the French Revolution, bringing back to life the iconic figure of Marie Antoinette who, more than the one painted by Vigée-Le Brun, looks more like the pop tale played by Lucille Ball in DuBarry was a Lady and Kirsten Dunst in Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, but also the heroine of our childhood Lady Oscar. Marco De Vincenzo and Francesco Risso for Marni were inspired by Carroll's Alice in Wonderland: the second leaving his psychedelic side free, while the first playing with the proportions of details. A world of fairytale and fantasy evoked also by Richard Quinn who, for his new collaboration with Moncler, brings a taste of Tim Burton's Charlie and chocolate factory to the catwalk. Gucci, among the many inspirations, mentions Fellini's cinema, while MSGM continues the partnership with Dario Argento started for the FW20 Men collection exploring Suspiria and the other masterpieces of the master of thrills. This MFW is a long film projection made of fabric and dream, sparkling like Oscar's night. The prize for best collection? It goes to Fendi with its beautiful and elegant dark ladies.
