Christie’s will auction off the rarest Supreme items ever A 345.000$ revenue is expected

From November 26th to December 10th, Christie's will launch the Handbags X HYPE auction, which will bring together a selection of the world's rarest bags, accessories and skateboards. An entire section of the catalogue is dedicated to Supreme, with the largest collection of brand items ever auctioned by the British company. Christie's sales director Caitlin Donovan commented:

I’ve been wanting to do a sale like this for a while. At Christie’s, we’ve sold pieces of Supreme in prior handbags sales, but this marks a departure.

Among the most valuable lots, you will see the Supreme pinball machine, valued between 30,000$ and 50,000$; five skate boards in The Pantone series by Ryan McGinness, valued between 10,000$ and 15,000$; a Spalding basketball with the same rating and two KAWS skate boards, which are estimated to be worth between 7,000$ and 9,000$. Other highlights of the collection will be the original Supreme skateboards from 1998, those decorated by Takashi Murakami and George Condo; item designed by Larry Clark, Terry Richardson, Harmony Korine, Richard Prince, Damien Hirst, Andrei Molodkin and Raymond Pettibon; a Fender Stratocoaster guitar and then knives, tuxedo sets and a toolbox for a total of 105 lots. The iconic Louis Vuitton Malle Courrier 90 Trunk, one of the most valuable pieces in the collection, will be sold for 60,000$.

Christie's is not the first auction house to include Supreme items in its catalogs. Last May, Sotheby's Hong Kong banned an online auction called The Supreme Vault: 1998-2018 with 1300 items from Yukio Takahashi's collection that included almost every accessory Supreme has produced in the past decade. The author of the book Art on Deck: An Exploration of Supreme Skateboards and Supreme expert Byron Hawes said:

Supreme represents a highly crafted collaborative vision of broader culture. Like Warhol’s Brillo Pad ‘box,’ these objects are pop art iconographs.

Christie's Handbags x HYPE auction will open on November 26 and run until December 10. Visit Christie's web page to see all the items in the collection.
