Dior's Pre-Fall 2020 show with artworks by Shawn Stussy The founder of Stussy has come out of his retirement for the first time since 1996

UPDATE 4.12.19: it went down yesterday in Miami the first Dior show in the US, that under the direction of Kim Jones presented the Men Pre-Fall 2020 collection. The anticipation was high, especially for the interview made by Jones two days before the show, where he officially announced an unprecedented and unexpected collaboration, the one with Shawn Stussy, who's back in the spotlight after the retirement in 1996. The American creative has reworked the iconic Dior logo and bee, which on the catwalk made their appearance on V-neck sweaters, wool berets and graphic T-shirts. The ultimate Stussy aesthetic was clearly visible in those camp shirts. In just eighteen months after his appointment, Kim Jones has rewritten the history and above all the future of Dior, basically taking it to a present that sees the blending between high and low, couture and streetwear, a perfect synthesis of contemporary fashion.

UPDATE 02.12.19: In an interview with Woman's Wear Daily, Kim Jones officially confirmed the collaboration, announcing the return on the scenes of Stussy's founder, Shawn Stussy, who had stepped down as chairman of his brand in 1996. During the interview Jones spoke of his love for Stussy:

"I used to wear it head-to-toe all the time in my teens. It was something I was really, really, really obsessed by. I’ve [still] got boxes of it. [...]For me to work with someone like Shawn is a real honor. He’s an artist, that’s the thing. If you can work that line like that, and it’s that memorable, it’s like an artist. That’s why I wanted to do it with him: he’s made an iconic image with his hand."

Shawn Stussy confirmed the collab by publishing on Instagram and image of the Dior name written in the classic Stussy font. The items of the collaboration will be revealed tomorrow, when Dior's Pre-Fall 2020 will be presented at Miami Art Basel.

After the almost certain partnership with Jordan Brand, Dior seems to have in the works a new project with a streetwear brand, completely unexpected and capable of combining two distant worlds and aesthetics: Stüssy.

A white hat with a customized Dior logo might be part of the collection, inspired by the logo of the skate brand born in Laguna Beach. Other items could be a black polo shirt with a white logo on the chest, a gray and blue tee and a bandana with tribal geometric motifs - Stüssy's iconic trademark - and finally a shirt with the photo of a young Creative Director Kim Jones and the writing "I Want to Shock the World With Dior".
Kim Jones had inaugurated the trend of the collaborations between luxury and streetwear brands, when in 2017, at the helm of Louis Vuitton, he had launched the collection designed with Supreme.
The collection will be unveiled on December 3, at the Dior Homme Pre-fall 2020 fashion show that Kim Jones will present in Miami.
