Timberland presents Brooklyn EK+, the shoe made of recycled plastic

Timberland presents Brooklyn EK+, the shoe made of recycled plastic “Reduce. Recycle. Rethink.”

That of sustainability has become a pivotal topic within the fashion industry, and one brand that has always been at the forefront when it comes to eco-friendly products is definitely Timberland. In the last few years, in fact, the brand has given new life to the equivalent of more than 345 million plastic bottles with its products. Having made its iconic Earthkeepers boots more environmentally friendly, the brand now presents the new Brooklyn EK+ collection.

Timo Schmidt Eisenhart, Timberland EMEA President, enthusiastically talks about the project:

Worldwide, the use of plastic water bottles is on the rise, and many of these end up in our landfills and later in the oceans. As a global community, we need to rethink how we are using our resources. At Timberland, our goal is for 100% of our footwear to have at least one important component made from recycled, organic or renewable materials. Today, we're 75% of the total footwear, thanks to models like Brooklyn EK+

The new products are very special: uppers, padding and laces are made of 100% recycled plastic bottles (ReBOTL™) and soles are made of 34% recycled rubber. The look of the shoes is completed by a sporty design and a cushioning system Aerocore Energy. Colours? Timeless classics: blue, grey and black.

The Brooklyn EK+ Collection will be available from the end of July online on the brand's website and in selected Timberland stores in the United States and Europe.
