In the past few seasons, we have gradually witnessed the fashion industry confront a trend that has mainly been associated with female fashion in an attempt to morph it into the DNA of menswear. Last season Fendi presented the male version of their Baguette and Peekaboo bags, Dior launched the male Saddle Bag and Loewe debuted a crocodile men’s clutch on the Fall Winter 2019 runway.

Needless to stay the men’s purse has been introduced to the world of fashion and the reception seems to have been welcoming, judging from the number of murses that have been seen in street style within the past few seasons. This season, in particular, has only just begun but has already seen an evolution of the men’s purse happening on the London Fashion Week runways. Designer Feng Chen Wang presented a collection of interesting purses made from bamboo in homage to her ancestors, Stefan Cooke showcased a collection of double handled multi-coloured leather purses, A-COLD-WALL* created a black and white cross body versions of the accessory and Nicholas Daley and Moschino showcased their own interpretation of the trend on theme with their shows.

London is only a small portion of the Spring Summer 2020 men’s showcases and we are already seeing fashion houses jumping on board to create different interpretations of the trend. We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes open to see who from the Milan and Paris line-up will be offering even more interesting versions of the newly-introduced man-purse.
