New York Fashion Week FW19 Moodboard

Ready. Steady. Go. The month dedicated to womenswear for autumn-winter 2019 has begun. First stop: New York. The Big Apple takes us on a tour of eccentric creations inspired by furniture, hymns to pseudo-intellectual minimalism, love letters to disco fever, and colored garments with exaggerated volumes that look like a paper pom pom. These, together with their designer Tomo Koizumi, are the true revelation of the latest NYFW. These cocoons of rainbow cloth are an almost hypnotic girly explosion that has bewitched Instagram, invading with posts the social. Among the official inspiration, Koizumi, protegé of Katie Grand and Marc Jacobs, cites the Japanese flower dolls, the paintings by Rothko and O'Keeffe, Leigh Bowery and Sailor Moon and the architectural forms of Balenciaga (very strong influence also in the collection of Jacobs). An interesting and eclectic mix that fades and ends up in the background, because, as Anna Sui teaches with her neon clothes reminiscent of the psychedelic posters of Victor Moscoso, the watchword of this fashion week is Poptimism, understood as vitamin heads, positive, easy, able to bring back the smile.
