Tonight at Milan’s Fashion Week it was time for Versace’s Women SS19 show, and it can be summed up in one word that perhaps isn’t the biggest surprise from Versace, print. But the types of print this season were a bit novel for the brand, with the focus being mainly on two things, tiled patterns, and flowers, lots and lots of flowers was the clear trend from Versace for the coming spring collection.
The range which consisted of
70’s inspired jackets, tops, skirts, and predominately dresses, used layering of fabrics such as
satin with more or less
see-through fabrics in combinations of various print. Animal prints were also heavily used, as was the trending
snakeskin patterns on a few pants and jackets. Special attention needs to be given to some of the
new sneaker designs by
Salehe Bembury, which showed off an open,
sandal-like version of his novel
Chain Reaction design.
Never one to shy away from the use of
strong and vibrant colors this year was no excepting and Versace showed off a dazzling palette display. The big model names had been brought for the occasion, with
Gigi, Bella, Kaia, Kendall, and Emily Ratajkowskii, all walking the show, which ended with an appearance of
Shalom Harlow, a favorite of Gianni Versace, whose shows crystallized her and her peers as “the supers” in the 1990’s.
