The hottest brands of Q1 2018 See which brands are moving and shaking things up in 2018 so far

Lyst has published their latest index over the most sold, and hottest brands for the first quarter of 2018. For the third quarter in a row, Balenciaga has maintained its lead over Gucci, as the hottest brand in fashion, but there are a few surprises along the list. Vetements has climbed further up from last quarters 5th to take 3rd place on the list, helped along largely by its Reebok sockrunner sneaker collab, which it dropped at the end of last year. Even though reports from various blogs have stated that the brand was as good as dead. Demna Gvasalia himself attributes this to purely fake news, and clickbait reporting as “Vetements is in the strongest creative, and financial state it has ever been” he states. It's undeniable, however, that we’ve been seeing far less of it on the streets, as consumers are opting more for his Balenciaga products, which also has a stronger brand name associated to them. Some analysts are predicting that Kering group will go all out, and push Balenciaga up to a multi-billion euro company alongside Gucci and Saint Laurent.

In fourth place we see Virgil Abloh’s, Off-White dipping down from its last quarter 3rd place, remembering the brands incredible jump from 31st to 3rd in Q4 of last year. Virgil’s sales of his own Off-white brand keeps steadily growing, backed up by the immense popularity, and savvy marketing, of his Nike “The Ten” sneakers collaboration of last year, in particular, his Jordan sneaker redesign, along with the release of the Off-white “For All” collection, consisting of more affordable pieces, has helped increase his market share. With his recent appointment to creative director for Louis Vuitton, his strength is not likely to dwindle, though the pressure for him to deliver for the Parisian fashion powerhouse is on.

Taking the fifth position we see Italian brand, Stone Island creeping up one spot, building on a legacy of strong consumer loyalty, and constant innovation in design and fabrics, its also been helped along by its Stone Island Shadow Project line. Designed by Acronym’s, Errolson Hugh, its benefited from Hughs growing popularity within his own ACRNM label, but also in large part to his hyped Nike sneaker collaborations. Stone Island's place in the top 10 seems as stable as any. Givenchy takes the 6th position, and Moncler dwindles down to 7th after last years 4th place. Though with Moncler’s highly innovative Genius collection, an 8-part capsule, dropping periodically over the summer, with collaborations from Craig Green, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Palm Angels, Kei Ninomiya, Simone Rocha, Hiroshi Fujiware, and 1952, things might change over the summer, entering the fall, for the Italian run company.

Dolce & Gabbana remains unchanged at the 8th position, Yeezy climbs a step up from 10th to 9th, with Kanye West teasing lots of new drops coming in the coming months, centered largely around loads of new colorways of the Boost 350, and new reiterations of his Boost 700 and 500 sneakers. Valentino takes the final 10th place, but an honourable mention has to be made to Prada, who though just missing the top ten, has climbed an impressive 14 places from last quarter larger due to its futuristic Cloudbust sneakers and coming reintroduction of its sport line, may very well see it climbing into the top 10 later in the year.
