While he was reading the Frank Ocean’s Boys Don’t Drive magazine, Xylk Lorena noticed that under the images of different old cars were written few lines reporting “car boy” culture stereotypes. The Canadian designer found the rude and superior tone, that often characterize the masculine members of this subculture, as something to be challenged and decided to start xylk project.

This aim it’s easy to understand from the picture of his collection, named BBoys Don’t Drive. The name is a clear homage to his inspirational lecture and he added a B for Bleecker, the street where he grew up in Toronto.

All the T-shirts of the collection are characterized by images of different cars with peculiar and different designs that Xylk love, and he believe that can be appreciated beside a deep mechanics knowledge. Lamborghini, Ferrari and Mercedes are used to represent the fight to stereotypes that close the people inside imaginary boxes, not allowing to people to be authentic is the philosophy behind this small brand based in Toronto.

New collections and the different cars choice are coming to represent the Canadian designer real and concrete feelings behind his idea.
