Goodbye to the founder of Maison Givenchy

Goodbye to the founder of Maison Givenchy Hubert de Givenchy, colossus of the Haute Couture, died last March 10th

During the 50s of the last century, the Haute Couture lived its golden age: the most prestigious ladies of Paris flocked to the most prestigious Houses to have clothes unique and precious. One of the most acclaimed designers of the twentieth century, in France, was undoubtedly Hubert de Givenchy, a refined marquis, the man who knew how to understand and exalt women like no other, qualities that will allow him fame and success, becoming mentor and master of fashion of the famous actress Audrey Hepburn (guess who design the famous little black dress of Breakfast at Tiffany's?).

Saturday, March 10, 2018, the founder of Maison Givenchy is dead and with him a part of history, not only of fashion history, but a precious generation witness of an important historical period, which tends to seem more and more distant from what we're living today. Fashion is changing, it is an infinite cycle that does not include the return of the equal, but with this progress, we must always keep the memory of the foundations, the memory of the 'point from which all began' and Hubert de Givenchy was one of these points.

In 1988 he sold the fashion Maison to the LVMH group, remaining creative direction for another 7 years, until 1995, when he decided to retire from the scene. Followed his steps to the direction of the brand big names of the fashion system such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Riccardo Tisci, while the current director of Givenchy is Claire Waight Keller from two years.

From Haute Couture to the close relationship with Jacqueline Kennedy, from fame to the care of the smallest detail. All this was Hubert de Givenchy.
