The Grand Palais transformed into a flower garden with lush lawns, fountain, stone benches, a maze of trellises covered with climbing green leaves and roses, is the romantic set chosen by Chanel to present its SS18 Haute Couture collection.

Flowers bloom on the catwalk and also bloom on clothes.

They have shades of lime green, raspberry or pastel pink, white and purple and make the iconic tweed suits and coats precious, the wide tulip-shaped skirts, the lace dresses with flounces covered with shimmering sequins and feathers, the skirts hand-painted silk, blouses, shorts and even the transparent ankle boots with shiny heels, the small leather gloves and the net veil pinned on the models' heads.

Everything is measured. The romantic side is developed, but held back so as not to become melancholy. There is the high tailoring made in France and there is also the model of the moment, Kaia Gerber here in her debut in couture.

Everything is nice, but not in the best sense of the term.

Something is missing. The beauty that feeds eyes and soul is missing.
