All you have to know about Virgil Abloh x Nike "Off Campus"

A unique collection and an equally exclusive event to celebrate it

All you have to know about Virgil Abloh x Nike Off Campus A unique collection and an equally exclusive event to celebrate it

The weel-known project is called “The Ten” and consists in the reworking by Virgil Abloh of 10 icon models that marked Nike’s story, divided into two categories of style: Revealing and Ghosting.

The first group is a collection of models created to be accessible whose design is distorted with small applications, cuts, and includes written (Air Jordan, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air and Nike Blazer Mid VaporMax). The second is the most futuristic version of the collection (Converse Chuck Taylor, Nike Zoom Fly SP, Nike Air Force one1 Low, React Nike Hyperdunk 2017, Nike Air Max 97) and introduces the use of transparent rubber applied as a protective shield.

Together these sneakers, in the words of Abloh himself, give life to

"(something) larger then sneakers. It’s larger than design culture. These 10 shoes have broken barriers in performance and style. To me, they are on the same level as a sculpture of David or the Mona. You can debate it all you want, but they mean something. And that’s what’s important".

All models of “The Ten”, available from November in NikeLab stores around the world, will be presented during Nike Off Campus in New York from 6 to 8 September at 23 Wall Street and in London from 14 to 17 September in various locations.

On this occasion, through a series of discussions and workshops will be explored the inspirations, ideas and design solutions that have led to the creation of the capsule collection of Virgil Abloh x Nike.

It will begin on September 6 with THE TEN: A Crash Course, a conversation with Virgil himself about the design process behind the new versions of Nike; while you will end up with two FOAM technology-focused workshops called WEARABLES held by Heron Preston, during which you will experiment and enjoy, participants will be able to create their own visual book of wearables printed on various fabrics.

Other guests of “Nike Off Campus” also purchased Shanye Oliver, Spike Lee and Tremaine Emory.
