Dior Resort18 is Maria Grazia Chiuri's Western-inspired dream

The great thing about Resort collections is that they bring us around the world. This time it's Dior who, left the Ville Lumière, brought its Resort18 collection to Santa Monica, Los Angeles.

The fashion show took place into an ex-Indian reservation in where models have walked into the wild nature of the surrounding landscape – literally, considering there wasn't a real runway. Hot-air balloons and the light of the sun just risen made the atmosphere more suggestive.

And the clothes? If Maria Grazia Chiuri chose to show her collection in such a characteristic place there is a reason. In fact, the Dior Resort18 collection is inspired to the cave paintings in the Lascaux, the same that in 1951 charmed and inspired Christian Dior himself.

So, the evening gowns of the Maison, the strong outwears and the cocktail dresses with the iconic corset turn warm-coloured – brown, beige, ochre, orange and red –and they are decorated with images who recall cave paintings or something from a Western movie. Fringes, cowboy boots, and hats – I guess the next hot piece of the collection – complete the mood.

Last but not least: in the front row there were the faces of Demi Moore, Charlize Theron, Freida Pinto and Rihanna, who captured the spotlight wearing a fur from the last Dior collection.
Are you surprised?
