Kartik Kumra is the second guest designer of Pitti Uomo 111 Indian craftsmanship and modernity come together for the next edition of the event

The second guest designer of the 111th edition of Pitti Uomo, scheduled for next January in Florence, is Kartik Kumra, founder of the Indian brand Kartik Research, who will bring a project-event to the Tuscan venue on January 13. The news comes just days after the announcement of Dunhill as the first guest designer of the event.
Kartik Research is based in New Delhi and was founded in 2021 with the aim of reintroducing humanity into dressing. There, through collaborations with local artisans, Kartik Kumra brings into his fashion system a spirit of craftsmanship aimed at reviving the country's long-forgotten trades. The collections Kumra has presented over the years all connect to social themes relating to Indian subcultures and draw on extremely varied aesthetics to reflect the influence of craftsmanship on the development of cultural movements.
Francesca Tacconi, special events manager at Pitti Immagine, stated: «The invitation to Kartik Research stems from the interest sparked by his reflection on fashion». The designer's ability to seek to bring past traditions back to light while remaining true to the present means that, despite his historical ties, his work always feels relevant.
