adidas released Japan's World Cup kit

adidas unveiled the new World Cup kit for Japan, during a big Monday of releases. Unlike most other adidas 2018 World Cup jerseys, which are very closely inspired by specific classics from the 1980s or 90s, the Japan 2018 home shirt features a more generic graphic print that does not derive from any particular jersey the team wore in the past, but instead was announced to be inspired by traditional samurai armor.

Taking inspiration from handcrafted Japanese Apparel Design, the head-turning use of graphics across the shirt mimics the traditional craftsmanship of Sashiko stitching technique, which is made by white rough threads on indigo-dyed base. The kit also features a new shade of blue with hues of red and white in the representation of the national flag. A sign-off on the reverse of the neck area celebrates important moments of JFA's football history, and the logo is the brand new one.

Slight darker shorts and socks in the same color as the shirt complete the Adidas Japan 2018 World Cup kit. But the real protagonist of the presentation was the Samurai's armor by adidas.
