There are many creatives who have made their passion for shoes and sneakers into the inspiration for their work. Tom Yoo, however, chose to do it by combining one of his favorite games when he was a child: the LEGO. In his hands, the famous colored bricks take the place of canvas or leather and become the unique material to reconstruct the silhouettes of some of the most popular sneakers.

His working method has a well-established routine, as Yoo himself explains:

In most cases, I use a good photo as my foundation. From there, I go section by section analyzing the ... shoe and finding the corresponding LEGO pieces that I feel best matches that section – it’s a long process.

The creative uses computer programming to create generated renderings of shoes to help him with his work. Sometimes, however, it happens that this step is not necessary because the sneakers he wants to reproduce with LEGOs are already in his own closet. How long does it take to finish a work? From a few days to a week, it depends on the complexity of the project and on how difficult it is to find the perfect LEGO piece.

From the Jordan 1 Retro High Travis Scott to the Nike Air Mag "Back To The Future", from the Nike Air Yeezy 2 "Red October" to the Air Jordan 11 "Concord" (the model preferred by Tinker Hatfield) all Yoo's projects are little design jewels that many would like to own. Some models are in fact on sale on the official website of the artist for a price ranging from $2,000 to $3,000.
