Virgil Abloh designs unique Pioneer CDJs and Mixer To be exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago will in June be presenting the  “FIGURES OF SPEECH” exhibition by Virgil Abloh. Dedicating an entire floor to the show, the exhibit will be an in-depth look in the creative process behind many of the various disciplines in which he moves within. From: Fashion, Music, Design, Art, and Architecture.

Ahead of the exhibition Pioneer DJ has just revealed a set of four CDJ-2000NSX2s and a DJM-900NXS2 mixer designed by Virgil Abloh in a unique “TRANSPARENT” case finish. The now iconic standards behind the booth in most clubs, these CDJ’s show the inner workings beneath the hood in what can really only be declared as a very cool looking finish. Abloh has commented that he aimed to give the legendary equipment a new look and feel, designing a:

“see-through and non-labeled rendition of the classic models to inspire a different sound while DJing. And perhaps a new way for music technology and human interaction to equal a different result.”

The new Pioneer CDJ’s and mixer will be featured alongside a series of other selected work at the exhibition running until November this year, more info can be found here. We’re of course very curious if these will see any kind of wider release thereafter as one can only imagine that they will be coveted by a fair few fans of music and Virgil alike.
