Versace will join the Milan Design Week which will be held from 9 to 14 April in Milan.
For the Fuorisalone, the maison will present the 2019 Home Collection with a special exhibition curated by Sasha Bikoff and Andy Dixon in the historic headquarters in via Gesù 12.

For its preparation the American interior designer was inspired by the famous Versace advertising campaign Autumn/Winter 1994 shot by Richard Avedon, recreating clouds and islands with neon shades and a huge carpet characterized by pastel-colored swirls. This space with a fantasy mood will host Dixon's project, a reworking of his recent New York exhibition Look at This Stuff Isn’t It Neat. The key piece of that event, a shirt that reproduces the iconic Versace pattern, three meters by two and entirely painted by hand, will be renewed with two new prints created by the Canadian artist himself in collaboration with Donatella Versace. Asked about his relationship with the brand, Dixon said:

“I have always been drawn to Gianni and Donatella’s work, especially the imagery used in patterns. There are many points in common between Versace and my works: we both take inspiration from culture and art, superimposing archive materials with new ideas and ideas, playing within a space where sophisticated and kitsch meet”.

The same elements in the balance between glamour and kitsch characterize the new Versace home collection. The proposal for 2019 is divided into five different furniture capsules, united by inspirations that mix mythology and pop culture: Pop Medusa, Medusa, Jungle, Rhapsody and Logomania. This last category includes leather sofas and various chairs decorated with logos inspired by the 90s and geometric motifs; while Rhapsody is focused on baroque prints. Jungle takes care of the outdoors and is composed of a suspended bed, a sun bed, lanterns and a coffee table-brazier. Medusa and Pop Medusa comprise a range of objects inspired by the mythological creature symbol of the maison. A perfect example is a sculptural chair made of polyethylene with a design reproducing the shape of a Medusa head. To accompany this object with a strongly pop taste there is a series of cubes in a colored laminated glass, usable both as stools and as coffee tables.
