Virgil Abloh presenting new art installation in Milan Happening at Spazio Maiocchi, we got the details

One of Milan’s most interesting is art spaces is Spazio Maiocchi, founded by Carhartt WIP and Slam Jam the space hosts a wide range of events within music, art, design, and fashion, aiming to “shape new cultural experiences.” Under that banner, it is hard to find a more fitting cross-disciplinary figure than Virgil Abloh to host an art installation. A trained architect, who has become one of the biggest icons and advocates of street culture and fashion, and now ascended to the highest levels of fashion with his appointment as Creative Director of menswear at Louis Vuitton, will be coming to Milan to present his latest project which is a collaboration with Milanese art magazine Kaleidoscope. Debuting at Spazio Maiocchi on November 30th, Virgil will present a special edition of Kaleidoscope’s latest issue, which will include a T-shirt and signed artwork, as well as an installation and commissioned billboard.

He’ll also be unveiling a manifesto for “streetwear as the next global art movement” -- proposing the movement as “a way of making it across disciplines, and ultimately a new Renaissance breaking the barrier between high culture and real life”.

Alongside Abloh, Spazio Maiocchi will also be exhibiting a retrospective by photographer Collier Schorr, new work by French artist Camille Henrot, as well as a new sculptor from Eric N Mack, and a performance by Polish-Lithuanian queer arts collective, Young Girl Reading Group.

Running just for the one night on November 30th, open to the public between 7pm to 9pm, stay locked to nss on the details on how to attend this special event.
