Google dedicates Frida Kahlo the largest digital museum in the world

Frida Kahlo is without a doubt the most famous, iconic, beloved and influential female artist that has ever lived.

There is something about this woman, from the strong eyebrows to the body battered by a terrible accident, to her iron will, that continues to fascinate millions of people even today.

Perhaps this is why Google, with its Arts & Culture project, has chosen to dedicate her "Faces of Frida", the largest digital museum in the world.

Thanks to technologies like Street View and the collaboration of 33 museums (including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museo Dolores Olmedo, the Fundación Leo Matiz and the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City), the search engine has created a space where you can admire a virtual collection of 800 works that gives you the opportunity to travel between the art and the life of the iconic Mexican artist.

It is an extraordinary retrospective with sketches, paintings, self-portraits, including lesser-known works, along with photographs and preparatory sketches, diaries, and letters from Frida that would otherwise be impossible to see next to each other.

"Faces of Frida" not only offers the opportunity to analyze some paintings by closely observing the details and reading brief explanations that illustrate the importance or contextualize the work within Kahlo's biography, but also includes secret messages that reveal details of her private life with her husband, painter Diego Rivera, and explore Frida's relationship with her body and her political opinions.
