Kanye West becomes Jesus in L.A. streets

Kanye West becomes Jesus in L.A. streets False Idol is the latest project of the street artist Plastic Jesus

It's made of gold, has his hands pierced by nails, his head adorned with a crown of thorns and wears a couple of YEEZY Boost 350. More than Jesus, Yeezus. No, this is not another delirium of the musician, but an homage to Kanye West by Plastic Jesus, a street artist who has created a man's life-size statue. The piece with the provocative title "False Idol" appeared this week in Los Angeles at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, in perfect time to meet another famous golden guy, Mr. Oscar who will be celebrated next Sunday. But why Kanye? Plastic Jesus explained it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

"[West's] a genius at writing and producing but he's not a God, and that's where we put him. Until there's an issue in his life or a hiccup in his career, then we crucify him... because we crucify our gods"

Got it? From tomorrow, the statue will be on display at the exhibition "Anesthesia: The Art of Oblivion" which will open to the public from February 25. A curiosity: the statue was made in collaboration with Ginger, the artist famous as the responsible for those Donald Trump sculptures appeared in some big cities last summer.
