Annie Leibovitz's exhibition to open in Milan this Friday @ Fabbrica Orobia

From September 9 to October 2, 2016, the Fabbrica Orobia of via Orobia 15 in Milan will host Women: New Portraits, an itinerant retrospective of American photographer Annie Leibovitz commissioned by UBS which explores the changes of women’s role in contemporary society.

Among the protagonists of the retrospective, which began in 1999 with the photographer’s Women project, we find Patti SmithAdeleCaitlyn JennerAnna Wintour, Amy Schumer and Serena Williams: women with strong personalities who have achieved important goals in the field of fashion, sport and entertainment, able to reflect the spirit of our age.

It’s important to see who we are, how diverse we are, how confident we can be, what we are doing. We need to like ourselves, we need more understanding, we need more work on these issues” said Leibovitz, who always stood for women.

The event will be accompanied by a series of side activities for students of the Brera Academy, the European Institute of Design and the Italian Institute of Photography, as well as a programme for teachers in collaboration with the New York's International Center of Photography and free workshops for families over the weekend.

Among the big absents of the exhibition, Miuccia Prada. Leibovitz confessed she really admires her and that they’re meeting this Friday for a photo session.

Women: New Portraits, is open from Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm (on Friday until 8 pm) at via Orobia 15. Free admission.
