Attention, please. Pin your ears back because of Nadya Tolokonnikova, leader of Russian punk feminist group Pussy Riot, has something very important to tell you.
A few days ago, the Russian activist wrote a guide for all women who want to defy their political leaders for Foreign Policy. Obviously, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump were the targets of her vitriolic attacks.

Tolokonnikova's thoughts start from a comparison between the two political leaders: on one side we have the highest Russian authority who "has more power, so he puts his enemies in jail", on the other side there is the new President of the United States who replies to allegations against himself with tweets. "These are just the knee-jerk reactions of children acting out when they feel rejected or scared", Nadya says.
However, we don't have to underestimate these two men, the activist tells us, remembering that

"Putin is trying to build a new conservative world order, and Trump is an important piece of this chain. In recent months, both men have implemented new policies — Putin decriminalized domestic violence, and Trump reinstated the Global Gag Rule — that simultaneously embrace the religious right and disadvantage the freedoms of women".

These are not just an anti-feminism policies, but true actions to diminish women. For Putin, women have to stay at home and serve their country by procreating more sons they can, while Trump, well, his opinion about women are well known.
But when life gives you lemons, make a lemonade.

"It’s time to consider Trump’s election as an opportunity for society to no longer hide from this ugliness” Nadya writes and adds “this is actually a gift for activists and feminist".

What? It's not easy, but the secret is to don't be afraid and don't panic. Remembering shortly her experience in jail, Tolokonnikova says "When I was in jail with my friends for nearly two years, we tried our best to be a pain in the ass for Putin. We went on hunger strikes and protested any way we could".

So, as a Phoenix Nadya Tolokonnikova has risen from the ashes and, like her, every woman who is facing injustices should do it. The power is this, it's to find solutions to problems, to fight head-on for our rights. Obviously, it's not easy, we need fortitude and mutual support, and time, but don't be afraid is the only way to defy Putin, Trump and "all those other assholes just like them".
Nadya Tolokonnikova says that.
